Portico

Project Description

From the moment we were approached by the client with his modern idea for Portico, we were immediately inspired. It felt as if the kind of project we were looking to develop had finally come to us after years of battling with the traditional architectural concepts existing in Barbados which are well imprinted on the consumers and the industry here. When we visited the site we realised that the project was going to have a fantastic sea view but was also faced the challenge of being located downwind from a main high-traffic road which generated much noise and dust. It became obvious from the inception that our main concept was to develop a building with an east elevation that would help control the problems involved with the main road and at the same time allow as much ventilation as possible juxtaposed with a complete open elevation to the west that would make the beautiful views an integral part of the architecture.
